Patrick Hoelck is a photographer, filmmaker, music video director, interviewer, podcaster. He combines an eye for beauty with a first-hand experience of street culture, allowing him to tell visual stories that are at the same time raw and romantic. In addition to directing a feature film, Mercy, he has shot dozens of brand campaigns, celebrity portraits, and music videos for DJ Quik, Missy Elliott, Alicia Keys, Beenie Man, and Josh’s former client, WC, among others. He came by our studio to give us a history lesson in hip hop music videos, and tell us how he’s been able to build an enduring career spanning across multiple media. He also tells us how he’s been able to overcome fear and get back to making stuff.
